Malatya, Eastern Anatolia

Dried Apricot

Stone-free apricot halves from the terraces above the Euphrates — the origin of roughly four out of five dried apricots eaten worldwide.

Golden or natural — both are the same fruit

Malatya's Hacihaliloglu apricots are picked at full colour, halved, stoned and laid out on drying fields at altitude. From there the crop divides in two.

Sulphured apricots are treated with food-grade sulphur dioxide before drying, which preserves the bright orange colour and a softer bite. Natural apricots skip that step entirely and dry to a deep mahogany brown with a more caramelised flavour. We sell both, and we will tell you honestly which suits your market.
